SETTING THE STAGE FOR MORE

It’s almost time for Spring cleaning, or so I keep telling myself as I look at the mounting snow. I’m getting the itch to do more as the days get a little longer and the weather starts to warm. So, this month let’s talk about productivity. Let’s use the framework of production = doing more and priorities = doing more of what matters. And let’s not discount either. Getting more done is important, and getting more of what matters done is mastery level productivity.
One of the biggest mistakes moms make is to give up sleep in order to check more off the to-do list. “Can I just” do this one more thing before I head to bed? So guilty of this, especially when my kids were younger! So it might surprise you that the most important thing you can do to raise your level of productivity is: SLEEP more. Start by backing up your bedtime by 15 minutes until you get to a minimum of 7-8 hours. You’ll be amazed at how much better you’ll feel and how much more you feel like doing each day.
Other habits to get in check in order to increase productivity are:
Proper NUTRITION – Are you getting enough well-balanced nutrition to fuel you throughout the day?
Adequate HYDRATION – Are you giving your body enough water to maintain your energy levels?
Some level of MOVEMENT – Are you moving or exercising sufficiently to keep your energy up?
Time for RENEWAL – Do you schedule breaks so that your body and mind have time to rest throughout the day?
These are all foundational elements to doublecheck before we start looking at doing more and more of what matters.
